Fresh Graduates

Fresh Graduates and those with experience of 4 years or less

Fresh graduates and those with four years or less of strong relevant legal work experience (and who fully satisfy the requirements/criteria specified under the section “Eligibility for Appointment as an LSO”) may apply to be considered for possible shortlisting for an interview for appointment as an LSO.

The candidates who are selected for appointment as an LSO will be subject to a three-contract framework totalling six years. The said candidates will be appointed on three consecutive contracts of two years each prior to being considered for possible emplacement on the permanent establishment after six years.

All fresh graduates will be appointed at the base grade on a two-year contract in the first instance.

The candidates with four years or less of strong relevant legal work experience may, at the discretion of the Legal Service, have their prior legal experience recognised and be eligible for the award of additional increments and/or appointment at a higher Timescale grade.

The candidates who are appointed to the Legal Service and thereafter satisfy the requisite promotion criteria may be considered for possible Lock Step Promotion on the completion of the requisite period of contract and in accordance with the Legal Service progression framework.

The possible offer(s) to an LSO of a second or subsequent contract, and the possible emplacement on the permanent establishment of an LSO, are subject to the quality of the LSO’s work, demonstrated potential and strong performance during the period(s) of the contract(s).
